Employee Spotlight

Employee: Jae Mullen

Position: Electro-Mechanical Tech

Jae Mullen

I have several hobbies, but being from New Orleans my favorite or the one I make sure to make time for is cooking. I have always enjoyed the family time that came along with being in the kitchen together. Just about every milestone is celebrated with food, family, and good times. Being in the kitchen reminds me of that. It was  especially helpful when I was in the military and stationed in Anchorage, AK. Every Sunday dinner was held either in my dorm room when I lived on base or in my apartment once off base. It was during this time I realized it was more of a passion than just a hobby. After being laid off during the pandemic I decided to earn my nickname “Chef” and went to culinary school. I’ve had the pleasure of cooking, as a personal chef, for a variety of different people from different areas. My biggest accomplishment, outside of getting grandma’s approval, was having a venue from Seattle contract me to cook for one of their head performers. I am currently writing a cookbook that not only shares recipes but gives a bit of the history that comes along with each dish because much like the city, everything has a story. Eventually I hope to achieve my dream of owning and operating a Cajun/Creole food truck to share New Orleans food culture with the PNW.
